AECL is continuing to perform non-destructive examinations of the NRU reactor vessel.  Members of AECL's Inspection, Monitoring & Dynamics Branch (IMDB) have been conducting Advanced Ultrasonic Testing on the reactor vessel to determine the extent of corrosion at the leak site and the thickness of the vessel walls.  In this video, Hélène Hébert, an AECL Research Scientist, Ultrasonic Testing, outlines how ultrasonic sound waves are used to analyze the vessel condition and provides a description of the software developed by her team to perform diagnostic imaging.
