New Video Update from David Cox: Preparing the NRU Reactor Vessel for Repair

AECL’s Return to Service Project Director, David Cox provides viewers with an overview of the complex work that has been completed to date on the NRU reactor including the inspections and the new tools being used to clean the inside of the reactor vessel. (October 28, 2009)

The cleaning tool developed by AECL is integral to ensuring the reactor is ready to receive the weld build up repair. Cox explains that AECL is on the cusp of moving into the repair stage of the project, due largely to the speed at which the cleaning tool development was done. From concept to construction, the cleaning process has been carried out in record time in order to return the NRU to service in the first quarter of 2010.
