Atomic Energy of Canada Limited's (AECL) top priority is returning the National Research Universal (NRU) reactor to service as safely and as quickly as possible. Guidance on the duration of the shutdown is founded on the best evidence of a reactor vessel condition assessment currently underway. AECL has released a video of David Cox, NRU Return to Service Project Director, outlining the scope of the return to service project including analysis of the heavy water leak site and critical path requirements for the restart.
