In this video, AECL’s NRU Return to Service Project Director, David Cox, explains the weld build up repair technique and how it will be applied to the NRU reactor vessel. For the first time, viewers can see a full-height mock-up of the NRU reactor that has been constructed at Chalk River Laboratories. Describing the process as a “complex choreography of engineering, design, operations and tooling…” Cox outlines how the mock-up will be used to train and test employees on the repair technique.
